Resin Bear scents: real nature, distinct character
The huge innovation at Resin Bear that sets us apart from everyone else is that we work with real plant terpenes—not synthetic fragrances—to create aromatic profiles with identity and purpose.
Why is this such a huge breakthrough?
Fragrances in personal care and household products are often classified as endocrine disruptors because they contain chemicals, like phthalates, that interfere with the body's hormone system. These chemicals can mimic or block natural hormones, leading to potential issues with metabolism, reproduction, and other health problems. Since companies aren't required to disclose the full list of ingredients in "fragrance" due to trade secret laws, many organizations recommend choosing products labeled "fragrance-free" or "unscented" to minimize exposure.
NOT ANYMORE.
Resin Bear products smell amazing due to the terpenes we use.

What are Terpenes?
Terpenes are a large, diverse class of organic compounds that provide plants with their unique aromas and flavors, and they are found in various essential oils. They serve functional purposes for plants, such as attracting pollinators or deterring predators, but also contribute to perceived medicinal properties, with specific examples including limonene in citrus, pinene in pine, and myrcene in hops and mangoes.
What are they made of?
- Terpenes are hydrocarbons, meaning they consist of carbon and hydrogen atoms.
- They are built from "isoprene units," which are small, naturally occurring molecules with five carbon atoms.
Where are they found?
- Terpenes are abundant in many plants, including cannabis, citrus fruits, pine trees, and various herbs and spices.
- They are the primary components of essential oils, contributing to their strong scents.
What do they do in plants?
- They act as defense mechanisms, repelling pests and herbivores.
- They attract pollinators, helping plants to reproduce.
Terpenes and humans
- Aromatherapy: Many of the familiar aromas we associate with plants, such as the smell of lavender, citrus, or pine, are due to terpenes, making them a key ingredient in aromatherapy and other natural products.
- Flavor: Terpenes contribute to the taste and smell of foods and drinks, such as the citrus notes in oranges or the spicy scents in black pepper.
- Potential medicinal uses: Some research suggests terpenes may have health benefits, such as anti-anxiety or anti-inflammatory effects, though more research is needed to fully understand these properties.
Why Cannabis derived terpenes?
Not all of our scents utilize cannabis derived terpenes. We specifically made a few formulations for people that feel uncomfortable with anything having to do with annabis which smell amazing. Terpenes are a class of organic compounds which can be found in all botanics. For example we have a Mint/Coffee fragrance that has no cannabis derived terpenes in it and it is amazing. We use fresh mint and actual coffee for that scent.
There is no THC in any of our products and the 4-5 layers of the epidermis do not permit THC to get into the blood stream anyway. We do not have a license for that anyway and are not interested in putting THC into our products. That’s not the goal here.
We use cannabis derived Terpenes because no other plant in the world puts together these combinations of Terpenes to form these incredible scents the way cannabis does. With cannabis you don’t get just one terp per plant. Every genetic produces a combination of primary and secondary terpenes in a specific ratio that ends up making scents that smell incredible and change people’s mood. It’s these incredible combinations of terpenes that we are after.
We use whole plant terpene profiles. What that means is that what you are smelling in our products is exactly what the plant intended you to smell. This is a radically different approach to how fragrances are currently made where lots of different chemicals are mixed together to get you what you smell.
We chose cannabis derived terpenes for their incredible scent combinations but we also like that this can change the way people perceive cannabis. The cannabis plant is completely underutilized for anything other than consumption when it has so much more to offer. We know that a lot of people think weed is stinky. When people smell our products that immediately changes. In fact our business model is 99% nose driven at the moment.
Almost no one in the world has access to cannabis derived terpenes. We are blessed to be in California and come from a chemistry and cannabis background. As a result we are the first people on the planet to have access to this amount of cannabis derived terpenes consistently.
It’s taking everything we are to bring you this new class of fragranced products.
We are the first people in the world to choose terpenes for our bodies.
If you care about putting the healthiest ingredients we know of on the biggest organ of your body then this is a no brainer. If you want to enjoy deep complex layered scents that are currently being used in aromatherapy to enhance your mood you have come to the right place.
